Spanning an impressive 20,000 hectares, our collection weaves together the Bergzicht Butcheries, Bergzicht Game Lodge, Bergzicht Dune Lodge, and Bergzicht Breeding, all flourishing on this storied land.
It all began on Farm Bergzicht, named for its stunning mountain views and established on 4,980 hectares by the first generation of our family, who dedicated themselves to cattle and sheep farming. The rich history of the beginning of Bergzicht lives on in the handwritten notes of HJ du Plessis (22 February 1935 – 22 May 2024), preserving the spirit of our origins

Under Hannes' visionary leadership, the evolution from traditional farming to game farming and trophy hunting marked the start of an extraordinary journey. Driven by a dream to complete the value chain, Bergzicht Game Lodge was born. With this expansion, two additional farms were acquired, creating a 15,000-hectare haven where Hannes could return to his passion for breeding—this time not with Brahman cattle but with exquisite game, giving rise to Bergzicht Breeding.
The hardships of the COVID era brought new inspiration. As the pandemic cast its shadow, Hannes saw an opportunity to support our community and launched Bergzicht Butcheries, supplying quality game meat to schools and hospitals in Windhoek. When fate brought another farm into our care, Dunes, it created the ideal setting for Bergzicht Dune Lodge: a self-catering retreat offering serene photo safaris and an immersive wilderness experience.
Bergzicht Safaris celebrates a seamless circle of sustainability. Our breeding excellence feeds the hunting department, ensuring world-class trophies. Our game meat enriches the butchery, nourishing communities in Windhoek. Finally, we maintain a gentle footprint on the land, welcoming guests to experience the magic of our self-catering safari accommodations.

Bergzicht Butcheries, an integral part of The Bergzicht Collection, proudly brings high-quality, ethically sourced game meat from our land to your table. From raw cuts like hamburger patties and a variety of flavorful sausages to expertly smoked salamis, traditional biltong, and mouthwatering droëwors, we offer a selection of first-grade meats crafted to perfection. Established during the challenges of the COVID era, our butchery not only supports local schools and hospitals in Windhoek but is also open to the general public, providing premium meats that embody our commitment to sustainability and community.

“Going back to Bergzicht Game Lodge is like going back home. I love it there so much, and they make me feel like family. I take “shots” with both a rifle and a camera, and have been very successful with both. Prioritizing the daily hunt by seeking the game most wanted by the client works so well, and in three visits I harvested 14 animals of 12 different species. If I could teleport, I would go back to Africa many times per year. It is so much a part of me now.”

“I first hunted with the Bergzicht team in 2009. I have since been back to hunt with them in 2011, 2013 and 2022. I have been able to take wonderfully animals hunting with them, to include 2 of the Big 5. As good as the hunting is, that is not the reason I’ve been back so many times. It’s the wonderful people that make up the Bergzicht’s team. From Hannes and Geraldine to now Marie-Louise and Steph and all of the staff they employ. They are all top notch. I consider them not just hunting outfitters and PHs but close friends of mine now. I have been fortunate to be able to hunt all over the world and Bergzicht does it as good or better than anywhere I’ve been able to hunt, bar none.
