NAMIBIA TOUR

The following sites are amongst those worth visiting:

/Ai-/Ais Hot Springs

The Ai-Ais Hot Springs Resort is located at the southern end of Namibia's Fish River Canyon and refers to the sulphurous hot springs that can be found there.  Ai-Ais means 'burning water' in the local dialect.

Fish River Canyon

The Fish River Hiking Trail is about 80km long and takes between 4 and 5 days to complete. The trail follows the length of the Fish River Canyon and presents spectacular views. Hiking can only occur from 15 April until 15 September, as temperatures in the Fish River Canyon become unbearable during summer.

Skeleton Coast Park

The park, proclaimed on 1 December 2008, previously consisted out of 4 parks namely The Namib Naukluft Park, The Sperrgebiet, Skeleton Coast and the Central Coastal Management Area. It is the 8th largest protected area in the world and the largest park in Africa, covering almost 11 million hectares.

Cape Cross Seal Reserve

This site where one of the first European explorers first landed is now more famous for its Cape Fur Seals. During mating season thousands of seals can be seen lining the beaches at Cape Cross. Beware, Cape Cross is probably one of the smelliest places in Namibia!

Waterberg Plateau Park

The Waterberg Plateau towers 400 meters above the surrounding plainsong 1878 meters above sea level, dominating the landscape for miles around. The oldest rock stratum is 850 million years old and dinosaurs left their tracks here 200 million years ago.

Etosha National Park

Etosha was declared a national park in 1907 and covers an area of 22 270km. It is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. After the Serengeti National Park, Etosha has the highest density of wild animals in the whole of Africa. A visit is definitely worthwhile. Book well in advance.

Popa Falls

The Popa Falls Resort is situated on the banks of the mighty Okavango River, at the last rapids, before the river enters Botswana and the Okavango Delta. This rustic resort, situated 15km from the Mahango Game reserve, is the perfect stop-over when travelling between the Khaudum and Mahango Game Reserves.

Zambezi Region (previously known as Caprivi)

These 3 parks are situated in the Zambezi Region of Namibia: Nkasa Rupara (previously know as Mamili), Mudumu and Bwabwata (previously known as Caprivi Game Reserve).
